Dapitan Arcade | Ylaya and Tabora Street

Since our wedding reception will be completely DIYed by us, we decided to start searching for the cheapest raw materials we can find. We got most of the idea for our reception styling through our bestfriend, Pinterest, so we already know which materials to look for.

First stop is the Dapitan Arcade. Whenever I drive my mom to Manila, we almost always pass by this street. I was intrigued so I made sure to check out this place first. To go there from Quezon Avenue, we turned right to Kanlaon Street (street before Mayon St. of Welcome Rotonda), then we drove straight to Dapitan Street. The corner building is the Dapitan Arcade. You wouldn't miss it for several vendors of handcrafts line up the street.

Anyway, we found these baked clay ornaments at 20 pesos each. Not bad eh? I will first try the clay recipe I found, though. If it fails, at least I know where to buy one.

We also found twine lanterns at 350 pesos each. When asked for 20 pieces, they said the price could go down to 175 pesos. The size is similar to the regular beach ball.

This also caught my attention. A potential centerpiece but Jon didn't like it. The bigger one's 150 pesos while the other's 100 pesos.

After Dapitan Arcade, we drove to Divisoria and went straight to Ylaya and Tabora Street. We basically just wanted to know what we can find there. Maybe buy a thing or two so we can try some of the DIYs but we're not in a hurry to finish stuff.

We found the twine that Jon would use to make a lantern. We bought 3 bundles for 100 pesos. We also found these cute wooden flowers for 2 pesos each.

Wedding Colors

With the advent of Pinterest, inspirations to do practically anything, were easy to find. When I was still new to the app, I would find myself awake at the wee hours of the morning scrolling from pictures to pictures, websites to websites, pinning and reading what I like. (Shameless plug: cenidlareg is my Pinterest account)

Anyway, one of the first things I researched (which I also think is one of the very reason why I joined) through Pinterest are related to my wedding preparation. In terms of my wedding color, I limited my search to beach wedding colors. I stumbled upon the color coral and I instantly loved it. Here's is the what coral looks like.

Perfect for the wedding eh? Anything close to that color is fine with me.

San Juan Nepomuceno Church

Last July 19, we went to San Juan Nepomuceno Church to ask for the availability of our chosen date. Since I already had an idea that payment for churches would cost as much as Php25,000.00, I thought we would pay about that much. Well, you guessed it, I thought wrong. The fee is only Php10,000.00. Yay!

The lady assigned in the wedding logbook (sorry, I forgot her name) also gave us the list of their requirements. In the list is a note that wedding coordinators, own readers and commentators are not allowed. Fine with me. There were also information on additional fees: we will pay Php100.00 for every godparent after the limit of 5 pairs, and Php300.00 for the electricity that the photographer or videographer will use. Not a problem.

Regarding the structure of the church, Wikipedia said it was built during the Spanish colonial period. The church and it's interior is beautiful. I like it. There was no "this is it" feeling though. Probably because the bell tower ruined it for me. The material they used to build it is different. Oh well. I still like it.

Looking at it and imagining myself walking down that aisle gives me the thrills. Can't wait!

Coleman Sale!

It was Jon and I's first time to attend the sale and we scored big time. We spent Php11,945.00 for items worth Php43,170.00. Yep, we only paid 28% of the total worth.

We bought: (2) 10x10ft Weatherlite Tents, (18) Twist Flashlights, (1) Aluminum Hydration Bottle, ((2) Switch Flashlights, (1) Lantern 4D Rugged Led CPX, (1) 50QT Extreme Cooler, and (2) 3x3m Gazebo Screen House.

So we tried setting up the Gazebo Screenhouse yesterday and it barely fit the living room! Thank God. That means it's big enough to fit a lot of people. Perfect for the wedding. Here are pictures of us setting it up.

By the way, the thing was 77% off. So from Php5,935.00, we only paid Php1,385.00. Yay!

Jon thought the 10x10ft tent wouldn't fit so he decided to just set it up in another day at a bigger place. I will post pictures when that happens.

Disorganized Organization

I had all these random ideas floating in my head. It causes me to panic. I made myself believe that I have done a lot of things for the wedding but I recently realized I haven't. We were only able to book the church, reception venue, photographer/videographer and the make-up artist.

We should have accomplished a lot of things already. I can't go back in time to remind myself to organize stuff I read/will be reading from the internet. However, I can do something now. 

Enter Excel:

To start organizing, I added worksheets for every DIY's, decors, blog sources, etc. Anything I think of doing. Anything of importance. I know it's still disorganized but it works for me. I'll post more updates soon.

Five Months Left.

That's it. Only 5 months until the wedding. I'm starting to panic just thinking about it. The fiance and I have not done a lot of preparations. We procrastinated.
